Oliver Sacks

Oliver Sacks is Professor of Neurology at the NYU School of Medicine and a Visiting Professor at the University of Warwick.

He was educated at St Paul's School, The Queen's College, Oxford, and Middlesex Hospital. In 1960 he travelled to the United States and an extended visit became a permanent residency. He is the author of 12 books, including 'Awakenings', 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat' and 'Uncle Tungsten'. The 'New York Times' has referred to him as "the poet laureate of medicine". He holds honorary degrees from many universities, including the University of Oxford, the Karolinska Institute, Georgetown University, Bard College, Gallaudet University, Tufts University and the Catholic University of Peru.
